Paul Bird joined ArcelorMittal in 2011 as Manager, Mining Operations, in Mont-Wright after more than 20 years in mining, dimensional stones, aggregate, concrete and cement industries. Within the framework of the Mont-Wright Expansion Project, his principal mandate consisted of stepping up the production of iron ore concentrate from 16 to 24 million metric tons.
In 2014, he accepted the position of General Manager responsible for Healthy and Safety, Environment, Energy, as well as Long-Term Mine Planning.
In 2015, Paul was named Chief Technology Officer. While retaining his existing functions, he also took on the responsibility for IT/OT, Engineering and Continuous Improvement. In 2016 Paul was also nominated Vice President of Human Resources.
Paul is a key contributor in design, architecture and strategy to deliver on long-term targets, development and sustainability of ArcelorMittal Mining Canada.
Paul holds a bachelor’s degree with a double major in Geology and Environment.
